F.A.Q. Pigment Problems
Q: What are my best options for pigment issues like hyperpigmentation (age spots/dark patches)?
*Please note that for the most effective treatment, you will want a treatment plan which will include at least two of these options. Hyperpigmentation improves but it does not forever go away without consistent treatment at home between office interventions!
VI Peel - a highly effective (but gentle!) peel that penetrates to the dermis layer of skin for a visible improvement in tone, texture and clarity. Peeling lasts about a week — day 3 peel begins, and the bulkof peeling is over by the end of day 5. Some people only slough but peeling in bulk is much more common. I won’t do this peel in the hottest months (unless there is unusually cold weather) in July, August, & September. Even though it is safe year round, I don’t want to keep you from having an amazing beach day during the peak summer season! I am a firm beleiver in the health benefits of sunlight & enjoying being outside.
IPL / BBL Laser - this is a laser that targets pigment and can effectively “burn off” dark spots. However, depending on the level and depth of your pigment, treatment settings may have to vary to achieve your best result. After an effective treatment the unwanted spots will darken and a week or so later will slough off.
Microneedling with skinboosters - causes pigments to rise to the epidermis from the dermis faster than it would normally, so pigments can eventually slough off. Skinboosters such as Klardie Ruby have ingredients that speed the process of recovery, brightening, and improving texture.
Medical Grade skincare & SPF - since uneven pigmentation worsens due to hormonal fluctuations, heat, and UV light, having high quality targeted home treatment to thwart daily damage is very important! At XOXO Beauty we have several formulas that will help you win the battle against hyperpigmentation. During your consultation we will decide which will work best for you.
